DEA Accreditation for Experienced Practitioners

Elmhurst now offers an APEL (Approved Prior Experience and Learning) route to producing EPCs. This is open to Experienced Practitioners who are experienced in surveying or energy assessment of residential property.

Those already trained in RdSAP or Streamline SAP have the option to train by distance learning or attend a one day course. Those without previous energy rating experience also train via distance learning but are encouraged to attend the one day course. After training all candidates submit five EPCs for assessment, no other examination is involved.

On completion, candidates will be deemed accredited to produce Government endorsed EPCs using the Elmhurst system.

Training days are usually held in our dedicated training suite at our head office, in Lutterworth, Leicestershire just off Junction 20 of the M1.

Further clarification of APEL Route 4 Option

(For those RICS members who have already joined the RICS DEA Accreditation Scheme – and who would like to choose Route 4 in the application form above)

By choosing this route it understood that you have already undertaken RdSAP Training with Elmhurst, and therefore successfully completed three EPCs to the required standard.

To join the Elmhurst DEA accreditation Scheme through this APEL route, we will need to verify two more EPCs. Under Government rules our Accreditation Scheme must verify a total of 5 EPCs produced by members. This means that you will have to provide evidence of a further two EPCs, in order to help simplify and speed up this process, you may supply two of the EPCs you subsequently used for the RICS application, or if easier/preferable two live EPCs that you have produced/lodged.

Upon successfully applying via this route, you will receive an email from our Training Department reminding you of your log on details for the members’ area of this website. This as you will be aware provides access to our on-line RdSAP software.  In order to verify the EPCs we will need two sets of: Elmhurst RdSAP forms, Site Notes, Floor Plans and Photographic evidence as well as the data entered in the on-line training software. These should all be sent in together via our postal address.

If you should have any queries please contact our helpline on 08700 850 490 or alternatively 01455 883 250 and choose Training or Accreditation from the options.

For those wishing to continue through the RICS APEL route then you will need to complete the RdSAP distance learning training by downloading the application form and returning to us.
