HIPs extended to 3 bed homes (10th Sept 2007)
- The government has launched the Home Information Pack scheme (Hips) to cover three-bedroom homes in England and Wales from today, 10 September 2007.
The Energy Performance Certificate which will from part of the (Hips), will be produced by Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs).

Boiler Amendment April 1st 2005. Update
- The ODPM have just released a letter explaining their position on the ‘The Building Regulations 2000, Approved Document Part L1, Conservation of fuel and power in dwellings. Correction. April 2005’ It clearly states the intention as recommended by Elmhurst and all industry to remove the changes to the calculation methodology. Read on for further information..
Boiler amendment April 2005
- On April 1st 2005 there was a change/correction to Part L (Eng & Wales) aimed at ensuring only SEDBUK A and B rated boilers were installed. This document released had more wide ranging issues; please read this article for further clarification.

- In the House of Commons today 22nd May 2007 at 15.30 The Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly MP made the following announcement: The introduction of Home Information Packs is to be delayed until 1st August - when they will be brought in for sales of four-bedroom properties and larger. Domestic Energy Assessment One Step Closer with Si Reports Ltd.

Elmhurst Accreditation Approved for new EPBD strands
- The Secretary of State approves Elmhurst Energy Systems to operate accreditation scheme for public buildings, newly constructed dwellings and non-dwellings. Elmhurst launches a route for person to produce EPCs for newly constructed dwellings - other routes to follow shortly -
Elmhurst Accreditation Commercial Building Scheme
- Elmhurst are pleased to launch the first of our EPC/DECs schemes for commercial buildings, which will further develop our range of services available to all energy assessors.
Elmhurst and David Wilson produce the first new build EPC
- Elmhurst Energy has produced England and Wales first ‘On-construction’ Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for a new house just completed by David Wilson Homes in Leicestershire. EPCs become mandatory for all ‘new dwellings’ in England and Wales, on the 6th April this year under the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
Elmhurst produce first EPC for Northern Ireland
- The first legally valid EPC for an existing building to be produced in Northern Ireland has been issued by a Belfast based Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) using software from Elmhurst Energy.
Elmhurst SAP 2005 Update – May 3rd 2006
We now have received word that our new SAP 2005 Part L software has been approved by the BRE.
We expect to dispatch CD’s to customers with active maintenance agreements within the next week.
Those of you that have been involved with the beta program can download the approved version in the usual way.
We will not be processing any more beta program requests.

Energy Performance Certificate Accreditation Scheme
- Elmhurst Energy Systems Ltd is pleased to announce that it is in formal discussions with the Government (Department for Communities and Local Government) to launch an independent accreditation scheme to deliver Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) in the domestic market.
EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive
- Energy Certificates to be provided for all properties on the change of occupancy. Certificates must include advice and guidance on how to improve the energy efficiency.

Home Information Pack (HIP) and RdSAP Training

Home Information Pack Regulations
- Revised Regulations The revised Home Information Pack Regulations were laid before Parliament on 29 March 2007. These regulations take on board the outcomes from the consultation in January, extensive discussions with stakeholders, results from the baseline research and feedback from the ongoing area trials. LABC and Elmhurst Energy Agree Industry Support Package
- Elmhurst Energy, the UK’s leading independent energy rating software, accreditation and training provider, has signed an agreement with LABC (Local Authority Building Control) to become an information and training partner. Elmhurst Energy will have ‘Preferred Partner’ status. This will make Elmhurst’s energy rating expertise available to all local authority building control departments via their LABC membership
New Build EPCs delayed until April 2008 (19th Nov 2007)
- The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) have confirmed that new build dwellings ‘On Construction’ will need an Energy Performance Certificate based on full SAP2005 from the 6th April 2008, consequently replacing the earlier implementation date of 1st January 2008 (originally scheduled for 1st October 2007).
New series of DEA Training Courses launched (2008)
- Elmhurst have launched new DEA training courses, with special discounts available to members of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) and National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), in order to assist them with the implementation of mandatory EPCs for the rental sector from Oct 2008
New Software Releases
- In preparation for the changes above, Elmhurst has developed software that overlaps new with existing legislation. This not only gives our software users the opportunity to study how existing constructions will perform after 1st April, but also allows access to applications using the existing legislation after the changes have been introduced.
Northern Ireland Regulations Approval
- Our SAP 2005 version 12 software has now received BRE approval for the Northern Ireland Technical Booklet F1 calculation. ...
ODPM Part L response
- The ODPM have released the Part L Consulation Document, outlining the proposals for the New Part L to come into effect 1st Jan 2006. The responses have been gathered, and the new Part L should be available in the summer of 2005.
Part L and SAP2005 latest
- ODPM finally publish Part L for England and Wales (15th March 2006) with an April 6th 2006 implementation date. We are seeking approval of our Design Software from the BRE. Information regarding a release date will appear on this website.
